Parents chime in

Parents, this is where we hope to hear from you. Think of it as a virtual kitchen table and pull up a chair and join the conversation. You’re invited to comment on anything you see here, or start your own discussion on a subject about which you’re passionate. The beauty, we hope, is that you can say what’s on your mind whenever it’s convenient for you, day or night.

Hello to #MommaDoIt and #LkMurrayPlayground, new followers for #iheartfamily. Thanks for the follow. Let us hear more from you here about what you’re up to and what museum families can do to help with things like the #LkMurrayPlayground folks who are working to design, fund and rebuild a deteriorating playground at San Diego’s Lake Murray Community Park.

Hello! The Lake Murray Playground Project is an effort by children, parents and grandparents to rebuild the city playground at Lake Murray Community Park. Museum families can learn more about the community’s efforts — and if they wish, make a donation — here: http://www.lakemurraypark.org.
BTW, we made an animated video clip to promote the project, that borrows from Shel Silverstein’s “The Giving Tree.” You can check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5HTgaQ026sU
Thanks for the opportunity to share about this project!

OK, yuk. A new survey released this week tells us about the dirtiest public surfaces most of us have touched at one time or another, and probably will again. Kimberly-Clark Professional, a division of the company that brings us diapers and Kleenex (and, yes, hand sanitizer products to health care providers and businesses) tested various surfaces in six cities. The survey found that gas pump handles are the worst, followed by escalator handrails, mailbox handles, buttons on ATM machines and crosswalks and vending machines and parking meters. We already grab those wipes at the grocery for the cart handles; guess we have to carry them with us to use in lots more places.
