Hey party-goers! Experience a one-of-a kind day of listening, building, and performing with sound projects based on trash and recycling, and work alongside artists and musicians from the Los Angeles-based artist collective, Machine Project to create original musical compositions. Kids of all ages can perform in a music ensemble made from discarded materials, build wind chimes from trash, and investigate the unusual sounds of outdated electronics.
 This Sounds Like Garbage | 10am–4pm
Come examine all of the sounds of garbage. Lab Coats, stethoscopes, and piles of 1980s machines whirring, ticking, and going oumfff-krrrrarak! Ages 4 and up.
Waste Wind Chimes | 10:30am, 11:15am, 12pm, 1:30pm, 2:15pm, 3pm
Construct wind chimes out of resonant trash materials in this hands-on workshop. Your Waste Wind Chimes can be hung up in the park to create a collective sound installation or taken home! Ages 4 and up.
Garbage Gamelan | 11am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm
Join Machine Project musicians as they perform a piece on a gamelan (Indonesian percussion ensemble) constructed of trash! Following each performance, they lead a group jam where everyone is welcome to play. All ages.
Den of Child Catharsis and Recycled Screaming | 10am–4pm
Come decompress in an optimally calming environment of low-light, comfortable chairs, and ambient music created by recycling the squeals and screams of youngsters playing in the museum. All ages.
Tin Can Phone Tap | 10am–4pm
Talk, sing, or laugh with a friend in this giant game of telephone that sends your voice across the Museum's galleries! You can even record your voice over the line, and hear it played back on the Cricket Wireless Lower Level. All ages.

Museum Musical Chairs | 12pm & 2pm
Dance around to live music and play NCM's super-sized musical chairs!
Break the Cake: Piñata Party | 1pm & 3pm
Take a swing at NCM's artist-made piñata! All ages.
Chalk Mural | 10am – 4pm
Can you draw with your eyes closed? Enjoy NCM's rendition of "pin the tail on the donkey." Collaborate on a massive birthday-party chalk mural, and draw birthday candles to "pin the candle on the cake! All ages.
